You did not ruin your day!

I loved the nutrigrain commercial that showed how a healthy breakfast guided the lady’s choices for the rest of her day!! She had a nutrigrain bar, looked like it was strawberry flavored, instead of the sugar covered high carb donut; in her morning meeting she had a pce of fruit, instead of the brownie; for lunch she had a salad, instead of a greasy slice of pizza. Point i want to make is that as much as I like this commercial and I recognize that a wholesome breakfast can dictate how you eat the rest of your day. I think there is a choice to be made. I have had that donut for breakfast and thought “well I’m going to eat what i want today and just cut back tomorrow” Guess what Tommorrow turned into a week away and then a month away and down I went right back into bad habits.

Its not always that extreme some of us can have a donut for breakfast and a healthy light salad for lunch and a light dinner, but its hard. Its hard because when you eat breakfast you are essentially fueling your body for the rest of your day. I noticed that when I had that donut for breakfast lunch time had to be at like 1030 and I was pretty much hungry for the rest of the day.

My message today is that Breakfast is important, just as all your other meals are. So when you slip for one meal don’t slip for the rest of them too. Its not always how you start but how you finish.

The yo-yo went up

The dreaded yo-yo…..

I know many of us are all to familiar with the ups and downs of dieting. We get close to our goal weight and then we start to get further away without ever really touching it. A good strategy to help determine what our goal weight should be, is get this, a memory. Simply, think of a time when you didn’t really think to much about your weight or appearance because you were very happy. I remembered that time as the time when I was finished with Air Force basic training and everything i owned was super comfortable and i didn’t have to go through several outfits to find one that was comfy. I like my clothing to fit losely. I started to realize that nothing in my closet fit losely anymore. This was a devastating realization. You see I had been wearing sweats and yoga pants so much that i didn’t realize that i was growing “out” of my size sixes and into size 12. I had gotten comfortable and complacent and that is when i started to gain the weight that i wish now would go away. Personally, my biggest flaw is that i’ll work hard lose a few pounds and forget that i have an actual goal weight so I’ll settle for a few pounds lost and fall right back into old habits and right back on the few pounds would come.

Today, I declare a new begining. My execise routine is pretty solid some days are better than other naturally. Where I need the most help is my nutrition. So I brought the “Shred-the new diet Revolution” by Dr. Ian Smith. The next 6 weeks i am challenging myself to be better not just for 6 weeks but for ever. I know I can do it. The title of this post is the yo-yo went up which implies that it was down at some previous point in time. This week I have a goal to drop 5 lbs by improving my diet and completing the weeks worth of insaniy The Asylum workouts. I can’t wait to share my results!!!!! :-)

Honestly I am not a fan of recovery drinks because of the sugar in them. I would use the P90X recovery formula www.teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/p90xrrftub?referringrepid=71010 , I used that one for a while before I realized the sugar content! It seemed to help me feel less beat down after the workout and muscles were not as sore either. It won’t make u gain weight as long as u don’t drink it like its water to much of it is like having a soda pop. Anyway, if ur looking to find support once u start insanity I have a group on Facebook that u can link into!
